To provide tools so that people may live in safety without fear of violence, and to foster social change through the cooperative teaching of empowered movement.

The Tulen Foundation’s 1 Million Hours of Power program provides free self-defense training to people in need nationwide.

Our comprehensive self-defense classes teach effective verbal, non-verbal and physical strategies for personal safety. Developed from the Indonesian martial art of Poekoelan Tjimindie Tulen, our programs emphasize positive skill building based on solutions, not fear.

Hours of Power has already served more than 1000 people in Portland, OR, Oakland, CA, and New York, NY, helping people live safer, more empowered lives.

Please make a tax-deductible contribution to the Tulen Foundation’s 1 Million Hours of Power program today.

In Indonesian, Tulen Means “Original”. We believe everyone is entitled to live beyond fear and to claim his or her original powers of protection.

The Tulen Foundation also offers a need- and merit-based scholarship program allowing children and adults to pursue on-going Poekoelan Tjimindie Tulen training.
