Welcome!
Welcome to the updated Tulen Foundation website and blog. We are excited for this new launch. While we have been sharing martial arts and self-defense with children and adults in our communities for more than 25 years and have taught thousands throughout Oregon, California and Massachusetts, helping build their poise, voice and confidence, it is only in the past five years that we have effectively enlisted others to bring this innovative self-defense training to the broader community through the establishment of the not-for-profit Tulen Foundation.
I am excited for this next stage, where through your support we are able to partner with other organizations and schools to reach more children and adults. I firmly believe that kids and adults who have a strong voice, sense of security and responsibility build healthy, vibrant communities. This is why I am so excited about the One with Heart and Beach Middle School partnership, which Katherine White blogs about below. This is the first program in Oregon to teach self-defense and martial arts to middle school students as part of their physical education curriculum. We want to thank everyone at Beach Middle School--the far thinking administrators and physical education teachers at Beach, the parents and the kids--for supporting their students in this way. We are honored that through the generosity of individual donors to the Tulen Foundation we are able to provide the support for this program.
I have a big vision for the Tulen Foundation, that it will support strength and safety for children and adults throughout our community, neighborhoods and schools. That it will be a light for change, for prevention of bullying and sexual violence through education and empowerment. That not only will the Tulen Foundation support self-defense training in the community, but someday we will be able to help send kids with this training to empower others in their communities and to pursue higher education goals.
Help us make a difference, make a donation today. Then tune in here for more updates on the Tulen Foundation's work.
