The Tulen Foundation's Oakland Action!

At any given time, fifteen to twenty percent of the ongoing Oakland self-defense students are being entirely or partially funded by the Tulen Foundation. This amazing generosity allows Oakland to "say yes" to those unable to afford empowerment training and had ensured the health of this very diverse, inner city community center.

Welcome to the updated Tulen Foundation website and blog. We are excited for this new launch. While we have been sharing martial arts and self-defense with children and adults in our communities for more than 25 years and have taught thousands throughout Oregon, California and Massachusetts, helping build their poise, voice and confidence, it is only in the past five years that we have effectively enlisted others to bring this innovative self-defense training to the broader community through the establishment of the not-for-profit Tulen Foundation.

Kids Build Internal Strength Through Physical Movement
